Kendrick Lamar – GNX (Indie Exclusive Blue Vinyl) LP

Kendrick Lamar’s sixth studio album, GNX, marks his first release after parting ways with longtime labels Top Dawg Entertainment and Aftermath Entertainment. The album, surprise-released on November 22, 2024, through PGLang and Interscope Records, is named after the 1987 Buick Grand National Experimental (GNX), a car of personal significance to Lamar. This 12-track project serves as a follow-up to 2022’s Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers and delves into themes of rivalry, loyalty and personal growth.

Executive produced by Lamar and Dave Free, GNX features a diverse array of guest artists, including SZA, Dody6, Lefty Gunplay, Wallie the Sensei, Siete7x, Roddy Ricch, AzChike, Hitta J3, YoungThreat, and Peysoh. The album also includes additional vocal contributions from Mexican singer Deyra Barrera, who co-wrote and performed on three tracks, bringing a unique blend of English and Spanish lyrics to the project.

The production on GNX is led by Sounwave and Jack Antonoff, with contributions from Mustard, Sean Momberger, Kamasi Washington and others. The album showcases a rich tapestry of sounds, from vibrant West Coast club beats to lush, orchestral arrangements, creating a dynamic and immersive listening experience.

Critically acclaimed, GNX has been praised for its intricate lyricism and innovative production. The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, marking Lamar’s fifth consecutive chart-topping release. It also topped charts in multiple countries, including Canada, Australia and the UK.
